Example 4 - Configure variable to accept an external value

Imagine you need to configure a variable in an automation object to accept an external value from, for instance, a container. Here, you will find an example of how to achieve that. As a common use case, we are going to use a PO number.

  1. Add a new Variable to the automation Object.

2. Configure Variable Processing as shown in the screen below.

The first action is used to read a variable’s value from the saved message. Thanks to Processing Parameter, Int4 IFFT will know where to point for that value.
The second action defines what will be done with the variable’s value. When adding the USER_DEF action, we can determine that the value can be set up manually in the container

3. To set up the value of this variable, go to the Int4 IFF Cockpit, switch into the Edit mode, and mark the Test Case you want to use. A test case should be using the same Automation Object you’ve just modified.

Then, choose a Container button.

Then, in the pop-up window, you can provide the expected variable’s value.

You can change the value every time it is necessary.
